Marc was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana and raised in
Sellersburg, Indiana which is a small town in
Southern
Indiana. He
attended high school at Silver Creek High
School. After
high school, Marc earned a tennis scholarship at
Western Kentucky University located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In addition to having played Number
One Singles, he was selected to the Sun Belt
Conference All Academic Team. Due to
Kentucky legislature state budget cuts,
the following year, Marc transferred to
Indiana University located in Bloomington, Indiana. While at
Indiana University, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta, a
tennis instructor at the Indiana University Tennis Pavilion, an
Associate Instructor for Microeconomics, and an Associate Instructor
for Macroeconomics. Marc graduated from
Indiana University with a Double Major in Economics and
Political Science and a Minor in
Biology.
After college, Marc moved to
Indianapolis and began a six year career in the insurance
industry. He worked for Travelers Property Casualty as
an environmental and toxic tort claims adjuster in an
environmental claims unit. While at Travelers, Marc handled
claims and lawsuits related to asbestos, silica, mold, fear of
disease, and construction defects. After working with various
attorneys at Travelers, he decided that he too wanted
to become a lawyer. He then began attending law school at
Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis as an evening law student. Marc
worked full-time during the day and attended law school at
night. While in law school, Marc held many national law school
related positions within the American Bar Association such as, the
National Law Student Liaison to the Professionalism Committee within
the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TTIPS), the National
Law School Liaison to the Toxic Tort and Environmental Law
Committee within TTIPS, and the National Law School Liaison to the
Public Service Committee within TTIPS.
After law school, Marc left Travelers and began working for a
large Indianapolis law firm that is located in downtown
Indianapolis. While at this Firm, Marc received
his Bar exam results and was admitted to practice law in the State
of Indiana. He was also admitted to practice law in
the United States District Courts for the Northern and
Southern Districts of Indiana.
While at this Indianapolis law firm, Marc handled lawsuits
involving, for example, automobile accidents, trucking
accidents, motorcycle accidents, general litigation, insurance
coverage, worker's compensation litigation, and many other
types of cases. He again primarily worked for insurance
companies. After approximately one year with that law
firm, Marc decided to start The Law Office of Marc S.
Sedwick, P.C. in 2003. His goal was to work more
closely with injured individuals to get them the compensation they
deserve. Fortunately,
Marc's vision is a reality.
Currently, in addition to being an attorney in good standing
licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana, the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, and in the federal courts located in the Northern and
Southern Districts of Indiana, Marc is an active member of
the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indiana Trial Lawyers
Association, the American Association for Justice (formerly ATLA),
the Indiana State Bar Association, and the Kentucky Bar
Association. He is on the governing Council for the Young
Lawyers' Section within the Indiana State Bar Association; on the
Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers’ Section within the
American Association for Justice; and a Sustaining Member of the
Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.
Marc is married, resides in Fishers, Indiana, and has a five
(5) year old yellow Labrador retriever named “Kona”. Marc's
wife, Cherie, is a dentist and practices dentistry on the eastside
of Indianapolis. Cherie is from Honolulu, Hawaii. Both
Marc and Cherie like to play tennis, spend time with their
family and friends, and travel back to Hawaii whenever
possible!
